Benefits of Maca

Maca root is an ancient superfood that holds a powerful adaptogenic abilities. Maca has been used medicinally  for centuries by the Incas for increased energy and hormonal balance (Gonzales 2011).  

Maca has gained popularity over the years for claims related to increased libido and fertility. While the research has been mixed and more studies are needed to support these claims, here are some of maca's other potential benefits!

Libido, sexual function & fertility

We're still not entirely sure whether maca has any real benefits for treating low libido, sexual dysfunction, or infertility in people. However, a recent study showed  that maca improved erectile dysfunction in mice & another study suggests that maca improved sperm concentration.   

When it comes to female, a study from 2015 suggests taking maca helped improve sexual function and libido when compared to the placebo. Additionally, reserach suggests maca may be able to help relieve symptoms associated with menopause

Memory and energy

Maca has neuroprotective properties that help with memory and learning (Guo 2016, Rubio 2006) and may improve your mood by reducing depression and anxiety (Stojanovska 2015, Gonzales 2009). Additionally, Studies in 2021 & 2022 should maca may help reduce fatigue 

Athletic performance

A popular supplement among bodybuilders and athletes, it may help in muscle gain, increase strength, and improve exercise performance (Choi 2012, Stone 2009).
