Best Bar for Diabetics That I’ve Found

Finding a great bar as a diabetic is like finding a needle in a haystack. There are way too many options and lots of claims being thrown around by companies – it’s hard to find a brand to trust.
And these days, it’s not as easy as just looking for a “keto” label! As someone who has always been mindful of what I put into my body, I feel like I have tried every bar out there. And finding a snack that both satisfies my cravings and my dietary needs has been a journey to say the least. This is a great guide for picking the best protein bar for you and the red and green flags to look out for.
The best bar for diabetics that I’ve found is Resist bars.
Resist bars are designed to help maintain stable blood sugar levels, and are also all natural. So natural they don’t use any:
ⓧ Gums
ⓧ Glycerins
ⓧ Sugar Alcohols
ⓧ “Natural” or Artificial Flavors
ⓧ Inflammatory proteins (Whey, Milk, Soy, etc)
Each bar is packed with high-quality plant-based protein, prebiotic fiber, and healthy fats which is the perfect recipe for stable blood sugar. My favorite is the Cinnamon Chocolate Chip flavor – it tastes like a nut butter-y cinnamon cookie dough.
I like to use Resist bars in a few different ways to “hack” my blood sugar:
-
Before coffee to avoid a post-coffee spike (sometimes I have that problem if I drink coffee on an empty stomach)
-
About 2 hours after lunch to avoid the 4pm slump
-
15 minutes before a meal that I know will spike my blood sugar a lot
-
Before bed since sometimes blood sugar drops will wake me up
But I wouldn’t recommend eating more than one bar a day – they’re very high in fiber! And also I wouldn’t recommend them as a meal replacement since they only have about 200 calories per bar. Check them out here!
